Eligibility

Grants are available to individual artists residing in the greater New Orleans, Louisiana metropolitan area who are 18 years of age or older. Applicants must demonstrate a current, active artistic practice and be able to articulate specific need for supplies or materials via the application found on www.peppersmoonbeams.com.

 

Grant Amount

Awards are discretionary and may range from a nominal amount up to a maximum of $1,500 per grant cycle. The award of a grant in one cycle does not guarantee future awards.  Applicants not selected may re-apply 2 additional times.

 

Use of Funds

Grant funds will be used solely for the purchase of art supplies, materials, or equipment directly related to the applicant's stated artistic practice. Instead of issuing funds directly to the recipient, individuals approved for a grant will supply a list of desired supplies to the program director, who will purchase the items on their behalf and arrange for delivery to the individual. Funds may not be used for living expenses, rent, travel unrelated to the project, or any purpose not approved in the application.

 

 

Tax Responsibility

Grant recipients are solely responsible for any federal, state, or local tax obligations that may arise from receipt of grant funds. Pepper’s MoonBeams is a tax-exempt organization under IRC §501(c)(3); however, this status applies to the organization and does not exempt recipients from their own tax obligations. Grant recipients should consult a qualified tax professional. Note: Grants to individuals are generally reportable income under federal tax law. Pepper’s MoonBeams is required by law to issue IRS Form 1099-NEC to any recipient who receives $600 or more in a calendar year.

Pepper’s MoonBeams does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, age, or any other characteristic protected by applicable law. All grant decisions are made solely on the basis of

artistic merit and demonstrated financial need.

 

No Guarantee

Submission of an application does not guarantee an award. All decisions made by Pepper’s MoonBeams selection committee are final and are not subject to appeal.

Pepper’s MoonBeams is a federally recognized tax-exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, EIN 45-5110142 effective [Effective Date]. This program is operated in furtherance of our exempt charitable purposes.
